For most of the pregnancy, our focus had been on the 20 week milestone, since that was when we lost the twins. Even with the assurance that this was one baby, not two we could not settle our nerves. Not to mention it was Luke's birthday. It could either be the best birthday or the worst birthday ever.
It was a huge relief to see our baby wriggling away on the screen. The ultrasound tech pointed out the heartbeat right away. Then came all the measurements. And the news that we were having a girl! All I could focus on was her heart. Later, Dr. Grable told us everything looked perfect. (He was the doctor who had performed the D&C when I had the missed miscarriage back in January, very kind, very comforting.) It was a day to celebrate, for many reasons.
